Came to Pittsfield from Windham 1789, became owner of a tannery, justice of peace, held other town offices and owned a farm and a mill. Some of these occupations may be mixed up with his son also named David.

Grandson Guilford obtained the old Daly homestead by 1886. "David Daly erected a house and small tannery near the end of the bridge, below the mill, where Guilford Parmenter now lives."
[From "History of Rutland County Vermont" H.P. Smith and W.S. Rann, editors, D. Mason & Co., Publishers, Syracuse, NY, 1886]. With the large gap in years between the death of the grandparents and this date, it is likely other children lived there between.
