Mina Jahnke Scharff was born in Germany on December 27, 1864. She was the daughter of Joachim Albrecht Jahnke and Marie Fruehling Jahnke. In 1872, she sailed with her family to America aboard the SS Vandalia, settling in Phillipsburg, Texas. Minnie married Theodore Scharff in 1886. They lived in McGregor and Grayson Counties, where Theodore was a farmer. They had eight children.
