Ruth Prince married her husband Derek following the passing of his first wife Lydia Christiensen.
Born Myrtle Elaine Hemmingson she was the eighth of ten children born to Einer Helene Hemmingson and Gladys Marie Honeywell. Growing up in the plains of South Dekota during the depression would gave her the disciple of hard work and daily chores.
At the age of 20 she joined the United States Marine Corps. It was here she learned a lifelong discipline which would later influence her support of the ministry of her husband Derek Prince. She attained the rank of Sargent in the Corps.
While in the Corps she met and later married another Marine of Jewish background. Through a strong conviction she adopted her husbands religion. Together they adopted three Jewish Children, a son and two daughters.
Several years later Ruth found herself a single mother with three children. She was able to overcome this obstacle and went on to college where she received a degree in education.
During the late 1960's she received a revelation of Jesus Christ through a miraculous healing. For two years she struggled with her Jewish identity and becoming a believer in Jesus Christ. In 1970 she made a total commitment to Jesus Christ. At this time the Charismatic Renewal was influencing all area of the Christian movement in the United States and she became an active participant.
During a Christian tour of Israel she became convinced that God was calling her to live among the Jewish people. Again, after much struggle and prayer she took her youngest daughter and immigrated to Israel.

It was while living in Israel that she met Bible Teacher Derek Prince. They would marry in 1976. Together they made their homes in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Jerusalem, Israel. They would co-found Derek Prince Ministries, which today continues long after their passing.
