JOHN G. RAGAN
John G. Ragan was born June 28, 1875, to Daniel and Ann Ragan in Lucas county, Iowa. He had lived all of his life in Lucas county and was a retired farmer. He fell asleep the morning of April 14, 1960.
John became a Christian at an early age, becoming a member of the Christian church at Belinda. After moving to Chariton he transferred his membership to the First Christian church in Chariton.
On Aug. 31, 1898, he was married to Minnie Farlee, also of Lucas county. To this union ten children were born.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie, his parents, two sons, two daughters, a grandson, and two brothers.
He is survived by two sons: John, of Pine River, Minn., and Delmar, of East Moline, Ill.; and four daughters: Mrs. James Adams and Mrs. Etha Stone, of Chariton; Mrs. Earl Canady, of Carlisle and Mrs. Edna Grant, of West Des Moines. Also surviving are two sisters, Laura Fox, of Santa Monica, Calif., and Cora Hollie, of Melrose; one brother, Harry Ragan, of Melrose; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 1960, at the Beardsley Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Newby officiating. Interment was at the Pine Hill cemetery.
