Alfred Vogel, 71 died at his home on Center Street, Fort Plain, following a heart attack.
He was born in Canajoharie on Feb. 8, 1883, the son of John and Isabelle Dingman Vogel.
A lifelong resident of Fort Plain, he had been employed for many years as janitor at the Fort Plain National Bank, the Methodist Church and the DAR Chapter House.
Mr. Vogel was a familiar figure on the streets of Fort Plain and will be missed by his many friends. An ardent baseball fan, he was a booster of Fort Plain teams for many decades.
He was a member of the old Hook and Ladder company and the Fort Plain Methodist Church.
Mr. Vogel was married to the former Sadie Gayler on April 21, 1909 in Fort Plain by the Rev. George K. Stapham. He passed away on the date of his 45th wedding anniversary.
Survivors included his widow, one daughter, Miss Mildred Vogel; one son, William Vogel, and three grandchildren, all of Fort Plain; one brother, Verney Vogel, Canajoharie: one sister, Mrs. Julia Buss, Johnstown RD; several nieces and nephews. |
Funeral services were held at the Swartz Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert T. Strobel, pastor of the Fort Plain Methodist Church, officiating.
