Born on Nov. 22, 1960. Passed away on Aug. 12, 2009, at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif. Due to a longtime illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister. Survived by her husband Jessie Burns and two children, Jessie Jr. and Justin Burns of Lancaster, Calif. Tonya had over 21 years of service as a LA County Fire Fighter, one of the first African American Woman fire fighter in Los Angeles. Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Joshua Memorial Park, 808 E. Lancaster, Calif. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Lancaster Baptist Church, 4020 E. Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster, Calif.
