LAKE HUBERT -- Virgil S. Ross, 85, Lake Hubert, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.

He was born March 16, 1916, in Rockford, Ill., to Virgil B. and Magdalene Theresa (Hensing) Ross. He was a Lake Hubert resident since 1937. He married Virginia Kletschka on Feb. 10, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a charter member of Nisswa American Legion, a 25-year member of the Lake Edward Town Board and Lake Hubert Conservation Club. He worked in construction and they owned and operated the Alaska Lodge and the Salty Dog Saloon on Lake Hubert.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Curtis Ross, Anchorage, Alaska, and Craig Ross, Lake Hubert; a daughter, Stacey O'Rourke, Brainerd; three grandchildren; a brother, Roger W. Ross, Saratoga Hills, Calif.; and a sister, Nancy Bonds, Tucumcari, N.M.

A son, Brian Ross, and a brother, Robert Ross, died earlier.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.

Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
