""J.W. West Dies From Wounds Mon. Night."" JOHN WESLEY WEST Succumbs in Knoxville Hospital After Operation. Deputy Sheriff J.W. WEST, who was wounded in the Robbins trouble Saturday night, and who was taken to the Howard-Henderson Hospital at Knoxville Sunday for an operation died there Monday night about 10:00 p.m. Mr. WEST was shot by some one, possibly accidentally, during the affair in which BEN FOWLER killed Dr. W.W. FOUST Saturday night at Robbins. The bullet which caused his death struck WEST on the right side near the hip, penetrating his intestines and causing a fatal wound. He was taken to Knoxville in an endeavor to save his life and after death there was brought back to Oneida Tuesday afternoon and buried in the Marcum Cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Mr. WEST has a family and many close relatives in Oneida, having been born and reared in this vicinity."
