William Riley West, age 74, born Jan. 10, 1878 in Oneida, died at the Veterans Hospital in Johnson City, TN, August 15, following an extended illness.
Mr West was a Spanish-American War veteran, a member of the Baptist Church, and one of our well known citizens. He is survived by five sons: Estel of Oneida, Espy of Corbin, Ky., William of New River, G.B. of Memphis, and James of Chicago, Ill.: two daughters: Rachel Marcum of Oak Ridge and Ruby Carmack of Halls, TN.; one brother, R.F. West of Harriman; one sister, Sallie Chitwood of Oneida,; and a large number of relatives and Friends.

Funeral service was at Oak Grove Baptist Church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Roy Blevins officiating. Interment in the Marcum-Kidd Cemetery with West Funeral Home in charge.

Bro. W.R. West joined the Pine Creek Baptist Church in 1932, was a deacon of the church, We feel our loss is his eternal gain. (West Union Association)
