Anna Irene Carson was born on a farm near Williamson, Iowa on June 11, 1916. She was a daughter of Truman and Lucy Vaughn Carson. Irene, as she was known, graduated from the Williamson High School at Williamson and accepted Christ as her Savior in her late teens. On December 3, 1949, she was united in marriage with Jacob John Van Der Hart in Des Moines, Iowa and to this union one son was born, Donald James. Irene and Jacob lived in the Peoria, Iowa area all their married life where Jacob farmed for the last 58 years. In her spare time, Irene belonged to a Ladies Missionary Class and enjoyed sewing stuffed teddy bears and quilts. She also enjoyed working in the garden. For the last 4 ½ years Irene had resided in the Long Term Care Unit at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, Iowa. She passed away there on Friday evening, June 13, 2008, two days following her 92nd birthday. Irene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jacob J. Van Der Hart; one son, Donald J. Van Der Hart and his wife, Debby all of the Peoria, Iowa area; two grandchildren: John Van Der Hart and his wife, Cheri and Sarah Van Der Hart; and two great-grandchildren: Haley and Carson Van Der Hart. Of her original family, Irene leaves a sister-in-law, Margaret (Harry) Carson of Alamogordo, New Mexico; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Lucy Carson; one sister, Adaline Parsons; and her brother, Harry V. Carson. Irene and Jacob attended the Hillside Bible Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
