Cornelia Aletta Clement was born northwest of Pella, Iowa on January 9, 1919. She was an only child born to Willem J. and Nellie Vanden Heuvel Clement. Cornelia completed the 8th grade at the Pella Christian Grade School. She continued living on the farm with her parents and later in Pella where she was employed as a laborer. Cornelia did babysitting for many years. She subsequently resided at Prairie Village and later at Hilltop Manor South and North where she did parttime work. Cornelia liked to do crafts, crocheting and making lap robes. On Saturday afternoon, March 15, 2008, she passed away in the Long Term Care Unit at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 6 days. She is survived by aunts, Henrietta (John) Vanden Heuvel and Gertrude (Henry) Vanden Heuvel both of Pella, many cousins and several friends. Cornelia made profession of her faith in 1934 when she was 14 years of age at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. She was a faithful member there for many years where she took bulletins to the sick and shut-ins. Later in life she transferred her membership to the Covenant Reformed Church where she attended as long as she was able.
