Doll Roberts Bateman, 67, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at her home near Gloster, Miss. She was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Amite County, Miss., to Bonnie Roberts and Nona Mae Taylor Roberts.

Mrs. Bateman worked as a hairdresser and a homemaker. She enjoyed being a caregiver to other people in their time of need. She also loved working in her garden.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey "Scooter" Bateman and his wife, Anna, of Central, William "Bill" Bateman and his wife, Lisa, of Liberty, Miss., and Brent Hughey Bateman and his wife, Kim, of Gloster; grandchildren, Trevor Bateman, Megan Bateman, Dylan Bateman, Brooke Andrews and husband Josh, Emily Bateman and fiancé Dewayne Whetstone, and Brandon Bateman; special niece and daughter she never had, Judy Temple, of Liberty; two sisters, Jo Ann Kirkland and Virginia Dillon, both of Liberty; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Linus Bateman; her parents, Bonnie Roberts and Nona Mae Taylor Roberts; three sisters, Linda Swims, Bonnie Gail Hughes and Mary Whittington; and a special pet, Ernie.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church near Gloster. Visiting at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home chapel on Sunday from noon until funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster.
