Lura Robertson Sexton, 86 of Narrows passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 1st, 2005. A lifelong resident of Narrows, she was born December 19th, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Cleve & Bertha Kelley Robertson. In addition to her mother & father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Thomas Sexton; a son, Andy T. Sexton, Jr.; a daughter, Bertha Patricia Lucas; five brothers, Fred, Russell, Harlan, Everette "Bear Dog," and Raymond Robertson; one sister, Frances Robertson; and a special niece, Rhetta Neal. She retired in 1982 from Celanese Acetate in Narrows with over 30 years service. She was also an avid Bingo player. She is survived by one son & his wife, Johnny & Linda Sexton of Pearisburg; one daughter, Ruth S. Smith of Narrows; three sisters, Christine Stafford of Flint, MI, Shirley Witt of Mount Airy, NC, and Reba Pruett of Grundy; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 5th, 2005 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Angel's Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Saturday from 6-9 PM. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider the Giles County Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.
