ROBERTSON, Raymond Lee, Sr., 78 of Narrows passed away Saturday, March 5th, 2005 at his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born September 26th, 1926 and was the son of the late Cleve and Bertha Kelly Robertson. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Russell, Harlan, and Everette "Bear Dog" Robertson; and one sister, Frances Robertson. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Florence Robertson; four children, Raymond Robertson, Jr. and wife Kathy, Gary and Lynn Robertson, Cindy and Jeff Stewart, and Joey Smith, all of Narrows; four grandchildren, Crystal Robertson of Narrows, Darrin Meredith of Narrows, Edward Robertson of Pearisburg, and Samantha Akers of Narrows; five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron, Carrie and Ethan Meredith, and Christian "Bubba" Tiller, all of Narrows; four sisters, Lura Sexton of Narrows, Christine Stafford of Flint, Michigan, Shirley Witt of Mount Airy, North Carolina, and Reba Pruitt of Grundy. He leaves many special nieces, nephews, and two very special friends, Chester Havens and Clarence "Gabby" Clark. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10th, 2005 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Kim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Post #68 of Narrows and American Legion Post #311 of Pembroke.
