Samuel E. "S.E." Craft

S. E. Craft of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 at his residence, at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 15 days. He was born on Thursday, April 29 1920 in Morgan County, KY, a son of the late Floyd and Alice Patton Craft. S. E. was a united in marriage to Bernice Pelfrey. To this union was born a daughter, Melinda.

S. E. was a longtime West Liberty Businessman, Realtor, and Builder. He was a fifty-year member of the Elkfork Masonic Lodge and a former West Liberty City Councilman. He attended the West Liberty Christian Church and was a graduate of Morgan County High School where he played on the basketball team.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer Craft, Homer Craft, Charles Craft, and Hager Craft; and three sisters, Mary Bays, Martha Baker, and Mae Smith.

He is survived by his wife Bernice Craft; his daughter, Melinda and Fred Blair of West Liberty, KY; two grandchildren, Margaret Elaine & Gary Lee Prater of West Liberty and Clinton Craft Blair and fiancee Jennifer Bindhammer of Washington, D.C.; two great grandchildren, Ashlee Blair Prater and Gary Michael Prater; and two sisters, Ruth Craft McLin of Lexington, KY and Alma C. Hayden of Vero Beach, FL.

Graveside Service 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Salyer Cemetery, West Liberty, KY. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday at the Potter Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Farrell Pelfrey, Darrell Pelfrey, John Pelfrey, Brad Pelfrey, Scott McClain, Larry Joe McClain, Billy Lynn Nickell, Kent Nickell, Craig Dunn, and Rod Bowman.

Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Lane Craft, Dwight Baker, Pat Craft, Darvin Smith, Charles Lee Craft, Hubert Bays, and Jimmy Baker.

Memorials are suggested to: West Liberty Christian Church.
