S. Raymond Saxton

Raymond Saxton, aged 60, a retired architectural draftsman and general store owner, was found dead Tuesady of last week in his Westville home. Dr. Wendell Bryce of Richfield Springs, an Otsego County Coroner, said Mr. Saxton had suffered a heart attack in his sleep.
Mr. Saxton was born on November 11, 1893, in Westville, son of Guerney R. and Esther (Wilber) Saxton. He was a veteran of World War 1, and was seriously wounded in action. He lived the rest of his life with a bullet in his chest.
He was an architectural draftsman in Rochester and Philadelphia to 1937. He was a graduate of Mechanics Institute, Rochester, From 1937 to 1942 he ran the Westville General Store, and had been in retirement since.
He was a member of the Milford American Legion Post.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Kathleen Salerno, Westville; two nieces, Mrs. Nan Pedersen, Portlandville, and Mrs. Carolyn Burtis, Poukeepsie, and a newphew, Raymond Gerling, Cherry Valley.
Funeral and military services held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Tillapaugh Funeral Home at Milford. The rev. Philip N. Pitcher, pastor of Milford Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Westville cemetery.
