Mr. Rowell died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1996, at his residence.
He was born March 29, 1902, in Comanche County. He grew up in the Knox County area where he attended schools. He moved to Hale County in 1943 and farmed and moved to Swisher County in 1945 and farmed. He retired in 1958.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He married Ila Savannah Wallace on May 14, 1922 in Munday. She died Jan. 30, 1992 in Tulia.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Frances) Jeter of Navasota; two sons, H.L. Rowell Jr. of Tulia and J.D. Rowell of Amarillo; a sister, Ola Yost of Munday; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
