Mr. Sidney Eugene Dixon, well-known retired painting contractor who formerly resided in Frederick, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, at Colton Villa Nursing Center, Hagerstown, where he had been a resident for the past year.

He was born in Frederick County, Dec. 19, 1902, a son of the late Albert Sidney and Margaret Emma Trout Dixon and was the last of his immediate family. Mr. Dixon's wife, Easter M. Lilly Dixon, predeceased him in 1962.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Dixon had been engaged in contracting painting in this area. He was a charter member of the Frederick County Fish and Game Association and a member of the BPO of Elks Lodge 684.

Surviving are three children, Douglas E. Dixon of Araby Road, Mrs. Ruth E. Bruce of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Joyce B. Holland, Gaithersburg; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Smith, Fadeley, Keeney Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, and Thursday, Nov. 15. Funeral services will be held at a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, from the funeral home. The Rev. Ralph M. Sharpe, a minister of the United Methodist church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
