Paul Randall Abell, son of John H. and Katherine R. Abell and a grandson of John A. Randall and Delia Wheeler of Norwich, died at the home of his parents on West Hill, Monday after an illness of many months' duration. His age was 32 years.

Paul Abell was born in Norwich in September 1877. A few years later he moved with his parents to Brooklyn, where his early years were spent. While there he attended the grammar and High School. In 1894 he removed with his parents to Norwich. He showed considerable ability in his schoolwork and in June 1896, at the age of 17 years, he graduated from the Norwich High School.

Soon after graduation Mr. Abell entered the editorial rooms of the Norwich Sun, acting at that time as city editor. After working at the newspaper business for a time he found that work was not his calling, so he went into Albert F. Gladding's law office and studied law for about a year. Mrs. Abell did not wish her son to be a lawyer and after considerable urging, Paul gave up the study of medicine. Two years were spent in the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Mich., and the remaining two years of his school life were spent in the Long Island college of Medicine from which he graduated.

For a time after his graduation, he practiced in Brooklyn. Later he moved to Sidney, where he practiced for four years. Two years ago, he moved to Norwich and practiced until his failing health compelled him to give up.

On June 26, 1900, Mr. Abell was united in marriage to Helen A. SInclair, daughter of James H, Sinclair.

The deceased is survived by his faithful wife, one son, Sinclair Herrick, and his father and mother, John H., and Katherine R. Abell.

The funeral was held from the home of his parents on West Hill on Thursday at 4 o'clock, Rev. H.W. Foreman officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery. (Published in the Telegraph Friday, August 27, 1909)
