"William M__da_
no legible dates but something has been scratched on the stone at some time. This stone and 2 others like it are at the highest point of the cemetery and about 15 feet from Joshua Monday's stone. This is probably William Monday, Joshua's father who died November/December 1817."
William Monday almost certainly is here as he received a land grant from the State of Tennessee in 1809 as evidenced in Land Grant Records in Knox County, TN. The land grant was for 157 & 1/2 acres and encompasses what is now the Monday Cemetery.
Birth 1743 • Hanover Parish King George County Virginia
Birth year calculated from notation in the Family Bible of his son Robert Monday that William was 74 when he died in 1817.
