Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. James O'Connor officiating.
Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow under the direction of White Funeral Home.
He died on Monday, March 5, 2001.
He was born on July 20, 1924, in Melvin. He attended Melvin schools. He married Maria Louisa Arrellano DeLaCruz on Oct. 24, 1945, in Colorado City. He moved to Lubbock from San Angelo in 1963. He worked in the maintenance departments of Lubbock Independent School District and Texas Tech University before retiring in 1981. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Cursillistas organization. He was minister of communion and a veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II.
A son, Luis, died in 1956.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Emilio Jr. of Oakland, Calif., and Alfredo of Lubbock; three daughters, Mary D. DeLaCruz, Angie Valdez and Linda DeLaCruz, all of Lubbock; a brother, Cayetano Salas of Sweetwater; a sister, Jesusita Salas of Sweetwater; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
