Mrs. Agnes Corle Groves, wife of John G. Groves, died at her home 1810 Jefferson Street yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock of spinal meningitis. Mrs. Groves was the daughter of the late Joseph F. Corle. Besides her husband, she left a mother and a brother, Eugene K. Corle.

Mrs. Groves was ill only a few days. She contracted a severe cold about a week ago which developed into the grip. Her condition was not considered serious until last Friday when her ailment suddenly changed to meningitis in so alarming a form that her physicians, Dr. St. Clair Streett and Dr. James E. Logan, saw at once that her case was hopeless.

Mrs. Groves was 29 years old and was born in Kansas City. As a girl and a young matron she was widely known in social circles. In addition to these duties she seemed never to tire in doing charitable works. Possessed of a large fortune she gave freely to the needy and was a constant worker among the organized charities of the city. She was a active member of the Young Women's Christian association, the Visiting Nurses association and the Mattie Rhodes association, and for several years was the secretary of the Childrens Home. Her husband is a member of the firm of Simpson and Groves.

It was decided this afternoon, on receipt of a telegram from Mrs. Groves' brother, who is in Chicago today, that the funeral services will be held at the home at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. They will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. H. D. Jenkins and the Rev. Dr. W. P. George.
