The former Vonice L. Lambert, was born June 17, 1905, on a farm near Correctionville, the daughter of Clarence Victor Lambert and Mary Ethel Heaton. She was raised in the Correctionville area. She married Sam Mahon March 24, 1928, at Correctionville. They farmed in that area until 1963 when they retired and moved to Sioux City. He died May 21, 1979. Mrs. Mahon was a member of the Rock Branch United Methodist Church. Vonice L. Mahon, 79, died Tuesday, July 24, 1984, in a Sioux City hospital. Services were held in the Rock Branch United Methodist church with Rev. Eldor Wilkens of the Billy Sunday Tabernacle in Sioux City officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, under direction of Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. Survivors include two sons, Edward and Dean, both of Sioux City, a brother, Frank of Sioux City, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded by a daughter Juanita Brower.
