Dollie Ida Johnson Gandee was born Jan 6, 1885 to Dan Jefferson Johnson. Mother was unknown. On the 1900 Federal Census, Roxton, Lamar Co. Texas, Dan J. Johnson is widowed and is listed with three children, Dollie Ida, Alice and Hick Johnson all are born in Mississippi. Dollie told her children that she was about 5 years old when she came to Texas. Dan J. Johnson married a 2nd time May 20, 1901, Roxton, Lamar Co., TX to Amy Darinda (Norris). There were 10 children born to this marriage.
The same year that her father married Amy, Dollie Ida married Lee Britt Gandee on 12/23/1901 in Roxton, Lamar Co., TX. They were parents of 12 children. William Oliver, Thelma Ruth, Rosa Lena, Paul, Hazel Lorene, Daisy Marie, Evelyn Geraldine, Orville, Ada Jean, Lee Britt "L.B" Jr., Donley Everett and Bobby Farrell Gandee.
Dollie died a number of years before her husband. She died April 5, 1949 and Lee Britt died Nov. 3, 1962. They are buried beside each other.
