Bennie Willis, 94, of Minden died March 10, 2010 at Homer Hospital following a short illness. Born November 8, 1915 in Turkey Creek, he was the son of Henderson Willis and Ida Lyser Willis.

He retired from Sperry Rand Ammunition Plant where he worked as Line Maintenance Expediter from 1942 until retirement. He served as alderman for Dixie Inn and was a mason for 57 years.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 61 years, Fannie Pearl Terral Willis; his parents; one brother; and one sister.
He is survived by one niece and one nephew from the Willis family.


Aunt Fance and Uncle Bennie had no children of their own but their host of her nieces and nephews were their "children" and their home was always open to anyone who was in need of care or help.


After his wife's death in 1997, Bennie lived 11 years with his nephew, Jerry Terral, and his last 2 years at Leslie Lakes Nursing Home in Arcadia.


His funeral will be held Saturday March 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Malcolm Self. Graveside services to follow at 12 noon at Beulah Cemetery in Farmerville.


Family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m., today.


Pallbearers will be Larry Terral, Mike Risinger, Robert Hudleston, Latty Trull, Steve Plumer, Kenny Balkom, Scott Johnson and Ricky Squyres.
