Eugene F. Benka, 75, of Lowell, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at St. Anthony Hospice Center in Crown Point,IN.
He was born October 15, 1932 in Gary, Indiana to Frank and Mildred (Wrobel) Benka.

Eugene is survived by his children Denise (Kendall) Shelhart of Hebron, Pam (Greg) DeLor, Mike Benka, Cathy (Steven) Morrow, all of Crown Point, and Teri (Randy) Knowles of Lake Village. His sister, Fran, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and special friend Nancy Parker of Valparaiso also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Ann Benka, his sister Lorrane and his parents.

He was a retired electrician having worked out of Local 697 in Hammond. Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran.

Private family services are being held with Rev. Brenda Ludwig officiating. Burial will be in Calumet Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society
