GLADYS JAQUES
A memorial service will be held April 13 for Gladys Robinson Jaques, who died April 3 of heart failure. She was 80.
Jaques was born Feb. 8, 1924 in Oakland, Calif., to Lauritz and Gladys Chambers Robinson. She married Tom Jaques in Eugene on Sept, 6, 1952.
She lived in Oakland and San Francisco before settling in this area in 1948.
She graduated from high school in Oakland. She served in the Marine Corps from 1944 until 1946. She later received a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy from the University of Oregon.
She was employed as an executive secretary at Willamette High School. She also worked at The Bon Marche, The Broadway and Reed & Cross.
She was a member of the Blanche Markham Guild and the United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bridge, dogs and the holidays. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jean White of Gardner, Kan., and Patricia Nelson of Canby; a son, Bob of Portland; and nine grandchildren.
Tuesday's service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Eugene. Private burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park, Eugene. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Lutheran Church.
