Orville Johnnie Evans, 86 of La Porte, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 in Brighton Gardens, Yorba Linda, California.


He was born January 15, 1923 in Harvey, Illinois, son of the late John and Dora (Padgett) Evans. He married February 25, 1950 in La Porte to Marietta Schroeder who preceded him in death July 16, 1991.


He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving from 1943-46. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He retired from Austenal-Howmet in 1985.


Surviving are two sons, Danny (Trina) Evans of La Porte and Gary (Lynda) Evans of Mission Viejo, California; brother, Rollie Evans of La Porte; two sisters, Nina Vairo of Tucson, Arizona and Eileen Garrett of South Bend, Indiana; seven grandchildren; Matthew Evans of Valparaiso, Kylene Brooks of La Porte, Adam Evans of Corona, California, Jonathan and Luke Evans of Yorba Linda, California, Matthew and Lauren Montes of West Covina, California, and four great-grandchildren; Ashley, Benjamin, Jocelyn Brooks and Jaxson Evans.
