Mrs. Frank S. Bicking

Alice McGibeny, wife of the late Frank S. Bicking, passed away at 9:40 o'clock last evening at her home, 534 South High Street, West Chester, in the 74th year of her age. She had been ill for the past year an seriously ill during the past ten days.

Mrs. Bicking was born in Portland, Oregon, a daughter of the late James B. and Hanna McGibney. One of thirteen children, the family is widely known throughout the United States because of their musical abilities, giving concerts in many places, and having appeared at the White House during the administration of President Rutherford B. Hayes.

She became the wife of Frank S. Bicking, President of the Bicking Manufacturing Company, of Downingtown, and a former member of the West Chester Borough Council, whose death occurred eleven years ago. They had made their home in West Chester for the past thirty-one years.

Mrs. Bicking was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and of the New Century Club. She was formerly active in musical circles in the borough.

She is survived by the following children: Mignon, wife of George T. Livingston, York; Beatrice, wife of Thomas Thornton, Pennsburg; Valeria, wife of Ralph Stover, of York; Frank Kirk Bicking, West Chester, and J. Frederick Bicking, of Dowoningtown. There are ten grandchildren.

A sister, Mrs. Grace Vezina, of Willoughby, Ohio, and two brothers, C.G. McGibney, of New York City, and Hugh McGibeny, of Cary, Illinois, als survive.

A son, S. Austin Bicking, is deceased.

BICKING- In West Chester, on April 12, 1946, Alice McGibney, wife of the late Frank S. Bicking, in her 74th year.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at her late residence 534 South High Street, on Monday, April 15th, at 2 o'clock p.m. Interment private.
