She was born Feb. 19, 1908, in Springfield, the daughter of George and Caroline Merritt Pasfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B., in 1954, and one sister, Charlotte Pasfield Vroom, in 1982. Mrs. Bartholf attended the Boston School of Fine Arts and was former president of the Springfield Art Association. She had served on the board of the Child and Family Services Association and was a partner in the restoration of the Lincoln Law Offices. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Memorial Medical Center Corporation, ANTI-RUST, the Progress Circle of Kings Daughters and the Sangamo Club.
Mrs. Bartholf's great-grandfather settled in Springfield in 1831, and was one of the signers of the financial guarantee that enabled the transfer of the state capital from Vandalia to Springfield. Her father, George Pasfield, was one of the builders of the Leland Hotel and a longtime member of the park board. Pasfield Park Golf Course is named after him.
Surviving are one son, Stephen P. of Springfield; one daughter, Carolyn Oxtoby of Springfield; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
