As per our "Family Record", correct year born is 1765 and he died in 1850. According to our family's efforts in obtaining correct information from The Toe River Heritage Vol. 1 at the Marion and Spruce Pine Libraries, and family interviews with close relatives, Benjamin Willis, Sr., DID marry Ane Galis (aka Annie Gales) on 27 June 1793 in Rutherford County, NC. It appears she died bef. 1830. They had 12 sons and 3 daughters, all born in Rutherford Co., NC. Of those, only [11] are known by name.
According to Walter Greene, Benjamin Willis was buried in the Wing section of Mitchell Co on Walter Tipton's land.
Margaret & Robert Heinek. I believe her marriage was to a Stephen Willis possibly a brother of Ben.Benjamin sold land in Rutherford Co.and appears in Buncombe Co. in 1830, without a female age of a wife. The wife must have died in Rutherford Co, but her name is not known.Benjamin Willis Sr. Reported by family members to have been buried on Walter Tipton land, an old cemetery just above his house, known as Lilly Branch, Mitchell Co. NC. Ben Beaver is in 1790 census, and a Wm.Willis is located 2 houses from him.
