Elsie Rivera was a remarkable woman who lived her life to the fullest. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, and to everyone that knew her, she was their friend. On Monday afternoon, August 3rd, 2009 in Amarillo, Texas she departed this life, becoming an angel to us.

Elsie was born on September 17, 1939 in Roy, New Mexico. She married twice in her life and had seven children. Four children from her first marriage to Eusebio Abeyta, and three children to Nestor Rivera.

She leaves behind six of her children, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Her first born, Estella Sandoval and husband, LeRoy have three children: Luis, Jeffrey and Amanda. Her second born, Sam Abeyta and wife, Lisa have two children: Katrisha and Samuel. Her third born, Annie May Mejia has two children: Jeremy and Joshua. Her fourth born, Ermie Abeyta has three children: Teresa, Tracy and Trisha, and fiancé, Darlene. Her fifth born, Carmen Rivera has one child, Shanise. Carmen was born with a twin brother named Ernie Rivera, who passed away shortly after birth. Her seventh born, and last child of the family is David Rivera and wife, Rachel. Elsie is also survived by two sisters: MaryAnn Roybal and husband, Tony and Vickey Cordova and husband, John, and a very dear friend, Erlien Lopez from Houston.

She was preceded in death by her father, Esequiel Romero; her mother, Annie Romero Herrera; her son, Ernie Rivera and her grandson, Joshua Chapman.

Elsie enjoyed spending time with all her children and was the leader of the family. She worked hard and supported the family in all aspects. She was a Wal-Mart associate for nineteen years and had recently retired. Elsie enjoyed the time she spent with her Wal-Mart family and also enjoyed her cake decorating hobby.

She had a wide range of friends, and a huge loving family. She will forever be missed each and everyday by the family and friends that knew her. May she forever rest in peace.
