George Ferrell

George was born around 1827, the son of John and Elizabeth Ferrell of Hawkins County, TN. He married Eliza Lawson on January 14, 1848 in Hawkins County.

Per census records, he was the likely father of Harvey Ferrell, Sarah Ferrell, John Henry Ferrell, Benjamin Banks Ferrell, Wesley Ferrell, Tamsy Ferrell Mabe and Mary J. Ferrell.

However in Eliza's pension application, the listed children did not include Sarah or Mary. Sarah may not have been mentioned in Eliza's pension records due to Sarah not being under 16 years old at the time of death of her brother Harvey Ferrell, for whom Eliza was basing the pension application off of.

Based on Mary's age, it is possible that she was born after George's death. It is unknown if Mary may have been a niece or other relative.

All the children of George and Eliza have been found/traced, except that of the potential daughter, Mary J. Ferrell. If you have additional information on these families, please contact the owner of this memorial.

Civil War Pension Files of Margaret Mabe Ferrell
In Margaret Mabe Ferrell's Civil War Pension Files, John Ferrell stated the following referring to Jackson Ferrell "Jackson Farrel or Ferrelle the soldier in the case was my brother."
Curren Lawson stated the following referring to Jackson Ferrell "his brother George married my sister and his brother Alfred married my cousin Tamsy."
These quotes provided documentation that John, Alfred, George and Jackson were brothers. In addition to this it is suspected that Andrew Ferrell, husband of Annis Looney, was also a brother and that Mary 'Polly' Ferrell, wife of McClelland Drinnon and James D. Thomas, was a sister. Additional documentation is needed to prove these two relationships.
