JOHN BLUME OF MORTON BURIED
RITES HELD SUNDAY FOR RESIDENT
OF MANY YEARS
Morton--John Blume, well-known for many years died last Friday following a long illness. He had been confined to his bed since April, 1937. He was taken to Union hospital, New Ulm, July 15 and returned July 18.
Mr. Blume was born June 10, 1861, at Frankfort, Ill. the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blume, Sr. He came to Morton in 1866 with his parents. December 25, 1882 he married Rila (Aurilla) Aldrich.
They lived on a farm two miles northwest of Morton until 1904 when they moved to town. Mrs. Blume died July 29, 1930.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the residence, conducted by Rev. W. A. Pringle of Franklin. Mr. Blume's six nephews, Julius, Henry, Albert, Will, George and Herman Blume were pallbearers. Burial was made at the Morton cemetery beside his wife.
Those who attended from away were Mrs. Laura Donahue, George Aldrich and Mr. and Mrs. Clem Aldrich of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Aldrich of Milwaukee, Dr. and Mrs. Herrick Aldrich of Watertown, S. D., Mrs. Ada Aldrich of Belview, Mr. and Mrs George Witt, Will Robertson and son William, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Lick, Joe Witt of Rosholt, S.D., and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Scheneman of Wheaton, Mrs. Lizzie Lathrop and Mrs. George Hepner of Redwood Falls and Mrs. Mary Roper and son of North Redwood.
