Clarence W. Johnson, 72, of 835 Water St., a retired maintenance man, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday in the House of the Good Samaritan following a long illness. Mr. Johnson had been a patient in the hospital since March 12.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with the Rev. Dallas Walker, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery later in the spring.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surviving are two brothers, John A., Rochester, and George E., Watertown, and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Arthur W., died previously.

He was born July 28, 1920, in Utica, a son of Clarence A. and Anna Footer Johnson. He attended Watertown High School.

Mr. Johnson was a laborer and maintenance man for the St. Regis Paper Co., Deferiet, the City of Watertown, and Fort Drum. He retired several years ago.
