Obituary - Idaho Falls, Idaho -- Russell King Homer, 81, member of the first bishopric of Rigby LDS ward in Jefferson county and father of John M Homer, counselor in Idaho Falls LDS stake, died Wednesday at the latter's home of infirmities incident to age. Mr Homer had been an invalid for some time.

Born 6 July 1859 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Russell King Homer and Eliza Winson (Williamson) Homer, he moved to Cache valley with his parents in 1874.

He married Eleanore Marie Atkinson on 20 January 1881, in the Salt Lake endowment house and moved to Clarkston, Utah. In 1887 they went to Rigby where he was instrumental in constructing its first highways and canals.

In 1900 they moved to a large farm at Poplar in east Bonneville County. He retired in 1918, moving to Idaho Falls. Since then he had spent considerable time in the Logan and Salt Lake LDS temples. His wife died 20 February 1925 in Idaho Falls.

Nine sons and daughters survive: Russell K and EE Homer of Salt Lake City; A R Homer of Philadelphia; John M and George A Homer of Idaho Falls; D E Homer of Los Angeles, California; Mrs Norah Grover of Archer; W H Homer of Van Nuys, California, and Mrs Lyda Longhurst of Shelley; five sisters: Mrs Rebecca Costley of St Anthony, Mrs DeLaney H Cooper of Lava Hot Springs, Mrs Sarah Clark of Clarkston, Utah; Mrs Maretta H Crockett of Salt Lake City and Mrs Lulu Peterson of Rexburg; 37 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
