In his Widow's pension file, it states that he enlisted Aug 8, 1862, age 32 years, 6 feet tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, and light hair, born in Tennessee. According to an Affidavit of Captain Scott, he died of disease contracted by becoming over heated while carrying ammunition while in battle of July 28, 1864, near Atlanta, Ga., in line of duty in service.
He married Hannah Macy, Nov 15, 1855, in Wayne County, Indiana. His widow, Hannah Curnutt, received a Widow's pension. They had one child, Ida Malinda Curnutt, born Mar 4, 1856, who received a Minor's pension. The birth was testified by Julia A. Macy who was present at the birth. Aaron Mills was appointed guardian for the purposes of the pension. Aaron and Hannah were married in Morgan County, Nov 28, 1866. Aaron testified in 1869 that Ida's birthdate was off by 2 years and should be 1858, thereby extending her pension to 1874 instead of 1872, when she turned 16 years of age.
