Peter Zewe, 82, one of Duquesne’s oldest residents, died yesterday at his home on West Grant avenue [DC has 1205 Kennedy Ave] at 5 o’clock Thursday morning. The decreased had reached the ripe old age of 82 years and up until a few years ago was active. Mr. Zewe was the son of the late Peter Zewe. For a number of years he was in the hotel business. During his life he had made a host of acquaintances and was looked upon as a man that could be depended upon; a citizen that was of a worth-while character and one that would often go out of his way to assist others in need of assistance. The deceased is survived by two brothers, Jacob and Nicholas Zewe both residents of this city, and by the following sons and daughters, Mrs. John C. Meighen, wife of the city treasurer; Mrs. Harry Meghen [sic[, of West Grant avenue; Peter Zewe, Jr., Nicholas, of Buffalo, N.Yl, Margaret, wife of the late Lyman Harkins, Martin of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Thomas Gallagher and Mrs. Robert Campbell. The deceased was a consistent member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and services will be conducted from that edifice, although the time of burial had not been decided upon when The Times went to press on Thursday afternoon.
