Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 13 at Chaney-Walters Funeral Home. Funeral is 10 a.m. Friday, April 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Paulison officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Schuppe was born Nov. 16, 1926, to Conrad and Anna Margaret Reitzelstein Schuppe in Sterling.
He attended Trinity Lutheran school for the first eight years and then Sterling High School, gradu ating in 1945.
Mr. Schuppe married Erma Irene Brunkhardt April 15, 1951 in Sterling.
He started Schuppe Brothers Construction with his brother Harry. William Schuppe retired from the business in 1984.
Mr. Schuppe was a member of the American Historical Society, the Germans from Russia, and life time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
He also held various church offices, was involved with the church choir, taught Sunday School for 20 years, and he was past president of the church.
Mr. Schuppe is survived by his wife Emma of Sterling; a daughter Candace and husband Timothy McNear of Sterling; brothers and sisters Mollie and John Miller of Sterling, August Schuppe of Sterling, Alex and Esther Schuppe of Sterling, Freida Staley of Fort Morgan, Mary and John Amen of Sterling, Elbert and Rachel Schuppe of Proctor, Helen and Alex Hettinger of Atwood, Mildred and Gene Eisenach of Sterling, Harry and Laura Schuppe of Sterling, and Lucy and Gene Stumpf of Sterling; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
