Death of Mr. R. F. Simril

The friends and realtives of Mr. R. F. Simril were greatly shocked Sunday morning when a telegram was received announcing his death, which occurred Saturday night at his home in Washington, D.C. from an attack of typhoid pneumonia. He had been ill but a few days, and death came unexpectedly. The corpse arrived in Newnan on Tuesday morning, and at 10 o'clock the funeral took place from the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. F. M. Bryant, services being conducted by Dr. Jas. Stacy, assisted by Dr. J. H. Hall and Rev. C. O'N. Martindale. There was a large attendance of sympathizing friends, and a sense of genuine sorrow was depicted on the faces of those present. The internment was at Oak Hill.

Mr. Simril was born and reared in Newnan, but about eight years ago secured a position in the Government Printing Office at Washington and removed with his family to that city, where, with an intermission of a few months, he continued to reside until his death.

He learned the printing trade in THE HERALD AND ADVERTISER office, and the writer knew him as intimately, perhaps as anyone in Newnan not related to him by ties of kinship. A more honorable boy we have never known, nor one who exemplified by his daily life the best qualities of a sturdy, industrious young manhood. These traits became more marked as he grew older and assumed the more serious duties of mature citizenship - the graver responsibilities that devolve on the husband and father. There is a deep sorrow among his former associated in his office, and a feeling of heartfelt sympathy for his stricken wife and three fatherless little ones. He was 32 years of age.
