OGDEN – Afton Loveday Hoskins, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on July 22, 2009. She was born on December 14, 1925 to Edward and Hannah Vilate Loftus Loveday in Providence, UT.

Afton attended South Cache High School. She married Roscoe Penrod in October 1943 in Logan, UT. They were later divorced. Afton married Boyd Isom Hoskins, Sr. on February 28, 1949 in Elko, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. Boyd passed away in 2006. Afton lived in her home in Ogden, UT since 1949. She was an active member of the Rushton Heights Ward.

Pat helped her husband start and run Hoskins Plumbing from 1956 to 1980. In 1980 she bought and ran the Naf Store in Naf, ID where her hamburgers were world renowned. Pat loved to bowl and play baseball. She had beautiful gardens and could grow anything. Most of all, she loved to spend time with Boyd fishing on Fontanelle Reservoir.

Pat was a loving, warm wife and a fantastic mother. She had many friends who are richer because of knowing Pat.

Afton is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd; children, Carol, Gary, Linda, Roscoe Jr.; siblings, Ethel, Edward "Ted," and Peggy; and parents, Edward G. and Hannah Vilate Loveday.

Surviving are her children, Boyd (Bonita "Bonnie") Hoskins, Jr., Lorna (Cliff) Earl, Pamela Archuleta, Sherry (Eddie) Gallegos, all of Ogden; daughter-in-law, Claudette Hoskins of Slaterville; siblings, Jean Dickie of Kerns, UT, Donna (Evo) Marti of Ogden, and Alta (Jay) Yergensen of St. George; and 18 grandchildren; 35.5 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. in Ogden. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday prior to the services from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
