Also spelled Catherina Daughter of Georg Heinrich(Henry)Christian Ruede and Maria Elisabeth Seiler. Wife of Traugott Chitty (son of John). Had 8 children William Edward, Sophia Adelaide, Henry Nathaniel, Cornelia Rosalie, Mary Elisabeth, Emma Louisa, Ellen Rebecca, Caroline Isabella.

(1 hundred years ago) In the year 1833 Lewis Essex then a young man as not married was leaving North Carolinia to come to Hope Ind. to make his house he was leaving behind a little sweet heart her name was Fredrica Ruede and was called by her friends as Fritzy she gave him a silver friut knife as a rememberance. he came to Indiana and of course married another girl and Fritzy married another man and she was my father Mother and Lewis Essex was my Mother father and my grandfather and he gave me this knife when I was 16 years old and told me that he had told no one else and that I must keep it long as I lived. and now that I am getting a little shaky I am giving it - Charlie Pence Your Aunt - Mattie Chitty (copy of letter thanks to Pat Dodd)



Death Notice Daily Herald Columbus, Ind Oct 12,1888 Died: Mrs. Frederica Chitty, aged 73 years, at Hope at 5 o'clock this morning, and will be buried to-morrow afternooon. Mrs. Chitty was on a visit from North Carolina to her grandchildren (sic) at Hope.
