Mary Gill, 87, Dies at Home of Daughter Today
Townsend, Oct 26--Mary Gill, 87, resident of Townsend area for more than 60 years died early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eustace Walter of Townsend.
Mrs. Gill was born August 16, 1864, in Verhaven, Ireland. She came to Townsend in 1890 and married John Gill that same year. They located in what is now known as the Old Homeplace in Canton valley. They made their home there until Mr. Gill died in 1937. Two sons preceded her in death.
In addition to Mrs. Walter, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. John Riley of Townsend; two sons, Herbert Gill of Townsend, and Richard Gill of Canton; a granddaughter, Dorothy Brown of Aiken, S.C., whom Mrs. Gill reared; seven other grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Deep Creek cemetery.
