MOUNT PLEASANT, June 20.-- The bodies of two district soldiers, killed in action during World War II at the Anzio Beachhead invasion, were interred Wednesday.
They are Private Andrew P. Palenchar, son of Mrs. Mary Timko Palenchar and the late Martin Palenchar, of Derry, R.D. 1, and Private First Class Delbert Banner, son of the late Harry and Elizabeth Fetter Banner of Latrobe, R.D. 1.
Private Palenchar was born in Carpentertown May 26, 1917 and was inducted into the army March 25, 1943 in Greensburg. He was killed April 24, 1944. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Havrilla Palenchar of Latrobe, R.D. 1; his mother; three brothers, John and Michael of Greensburg and Martin of Derry and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Stumya of Adah, Mrs. Helen Revitsky of Latrobe, Mrs. Margaret Sylvester of Derry and Miss Mary Palenchar at home.
Requiem high mass was held in the Holy Family Church followed by burial in St. Vincent Cemetery.
Private First Class Banner was born December 24, 1915. He enlisted in the armed forces in February, 1941. A machine gunner, he saw action in Africa, Sardinia, Sicily and Anzio Beachhead where he was killed February 17, 1944.
Surviving are three sisters and five brothers including Mrs. Emma Coleman and Murnice Banner of York Run.
The funeral service was held in the afternoon in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Interment was in Lycippus Cemetery.
