He was born in the Town of Rhine on December 15, 1924, son of the late Anton and Irma (Wendel) Becker.
On April 9, 1947 he married Delores Voss at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel.
Elroy had previously been employed at Tri-County Co-Op in Kiel for five years and 15 years at the former Puetz Motors Sales, Kiel. He had been employed at Kohler Company for 22 years, retiring in 1987. In his retirement he was part-owner of Becker Birds, Inc. game farm.
He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Hermitage Conservation Club, where he was the treasurer and was on the board of directors for 20 years. Earlier in his life, he played with his father in the Tony Becker Orchestra.
Elroy enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing, trapping and snowmobiling. He had a talent to build parade floats and won numerous awards for his efforts. He also enjoyed his "trips to town" where he socialized with his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Delores; four children, Gary (Rachel) Becker, David (Ann) Becker, Theresa (Joe) Koenig, Brad (Lynne) Becker; eight grandchildren, Michael (Kellie) Becker, Shelly (Brett) Schmitz, Kelly (Rodney) Arnold, Sarah (Todd) DeZwarte, Antoinette "Tonie" Becker, Kimberly (Michael) Dyer, Samantha Becker, Maxine Becker; and five great-grandchildren, Michael, Ashton, Aubrey, Ellison and Greyson. He is further survived by one brother, Stan (Lynn) Becker; three sisters, Cyrilla (Cyril) Niquette, Bernice Reineck, Geraldine (Gerald) Hollenbeck; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Voss, Eugene (Donna) Voss, Shirley (Lawrence) Schneider, Pattie (Donald) Gallagher, Wayne (Margaret) Voss.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.
The funeral mass for Elroy will be celebrated at Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
