Chastain,Matthew A, 69,of 440 Ledbetter Street, Cedartown died at the residence on Saturday, March 20, 1948 at 9:30 a.m. He was born in Walker County, Ga. on November 20, 1878,but lived in Cedartown for 35 years. He was a member of the Congregational Holiness Church for 25 years. He is survived by two sons,Donald Chastain of Cedartown and J C Chastain of Austell, Ga. One daughter, Mrs. Francis Womack of Orlando, Fla;one brother, Willie Chastain of Chattanooga, Tenn. ; four sisters, Mrs M A Sorrells and Mrs A J Sanders, both of Cedartown, Mrs Scott Lewis and Mrs. Sarah Chandler, both of Chattanooga, Tenn. ; nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Holiness Church on Monday, March 22, 1948 at 2pm with Rev. Grady Cook, Rev. Earl Ward and Rev. J B McAdams officiating. Burial was at New Harmony Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Starling Lyon, Jesse Snow, Jeff McLarty, Donald William, Al Claton and Grady Mullinax.
