Son of Riley Hunt and Elizabeth Anthony. Married Mary Jane Harrell on November 25, 1852 in Allen County, Kentucky.

Chet was a judge and farmer in Kentucky, but moved to Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas with other family members sometime after the 1880 US Census. He resumed farming in Texas.

Chet and his brother Joseph married Harrell sisters Mary Jane and Nanny.

He and Mary were the parents of Bob, Joe, Fanny, and John Lewis Hunt, all born in Allen County, Kentucky.
