Thank you for visiting our dear beloved Edwin. Your thoughtful visit is very appreciated.

Noah Edwin Derr was born September 13, 1883 in Selma, Clark County, Ohio and was the son of Noah and Henrietta Gorsuch Derr. He went by his middle name of Edwin. He married Mary Ann Laura Lillian Geurin (Wilkins) Derr. They had no children.
When our beloved Edwin was a small child his mother Henrietta passed away shortly after Edwin's new baby brother was born. Edwin was six years old at the time and had just started school that year. Being so young his sister Clara Louise Virginia Derr Shuirr stepped in and cared for the younger children. She mainly took care of Edwin and Dollie then helped her by taking care of James Edward (who went by Edward, and was to be taken away and adopted by Frederick and Sarah Wolfe Derr in 1891 and his name changed to Edwared Meise Derr). By Clara caring for Edwin they grew very close, just as Edward grew very close to Dollie. When Edwin grew up he went out to Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California due to the fact the family had ties there with the work in the Borax Company driving mule teams. My Uncle Jack (John "Jack" William Steinberger) said Edwin had also worked for the company driving a 20 mule team. He settled in there and met and later married Lillian (Mary Ann Laura Lillian "Geurin" Wilkins) on July 7, 1919 in Los Angeles, California, where they settled into life together. Lillian's prior husband had passed away, whom she had children with and they lived with Edwin and Lillian. She passed away in 1925, but her family does not know where she is buried and continue searching for sweet Lillian to this day. Edwin was in Monroe, Snohomish, Washington when he passed away, having been likely visiting relatives of Lillian's, whose descendants live there in that area to this day. His body was then shipped back to Springfield, Clark County, Ohio to his sister Clara and her husband Warren Shuirr. He was then buried in the family cemetery Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio.

NOTE: With the meeting of Phyllis Stupek she and I shared information we each had about Edwin and his wonderful life, also by Robert "Rob" Weller's diligent work in recording those who are buried in Ferncliff Cemetery, and thus my talking furhrer with Scott at the Ferncliff Cemetery Administrations' office we were able to find where Edwin is now resting. Also thanks to Scott for calculating Edwin's birthdate for us. What a journey that took many people and much research, but it has been well worth all of the efforts by all of the wonderful people involved who helped us find Edwin. This journey of many came together as one journey of success thru collaboration of those on Find A Grave and Ancestry and the Ferncliff Cemetery Administration. Love always finds a way...
