Through the efforts of Mr Thomas H McDill of Gastonia and Mr Claude McDill of Charleston we have the following records of these families: Mollie McDill (Mary m. Lagroon children: Rebecca Lagroon and Mary Labroon. Robert McDill, b. Aug 12, 1800; Jane McDill, b. Oct 9 1802, William McDill b. Aug 12, 1805; m. Cornelia F. the census record above shows that there were five children in the home in 1850; however, it is doubrful if all of these were the children of William and Cornelia. We have a record of a Cornelia McDill who married a McDonald and went to Arkansas with the four McDill children. Thomas McDill, b Sept 4 1811, d. June 19 1877 m. Elizabeth Hill b. Feb 2, 1821 d Jan 30 1911; both buried in Lebanon UP Cemetery near Fayetteville Tenn. Thomas MCDill was a member of Cedar Springs Church in Abbeville County SC before moving to Fayetteville, Tenn about 1851. Dr. T. Hl. McDill of Gastonis, says that his grandfather was the owner of two slaves, Armps and Mary McDill. They had two children, Jum McDill and Mary Mc Dill who never married. Thomas McDill was a Union man and his slaves never left him even after gaining their freedom.
