Funeral services for Alice Berkland, 80, of Canton, South Dakota, were held Friday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, rural Inwood, with interment in the church cemetery.
She died Monday, September 11, 1989, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
She was born February 28, 1909 at the Berkland homestead at rural Inwood. She graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton and taught schools in South Dakota. She attended beautician's school in Chicago, Illinois, and operated a beauty shop there until 1955 when she moved to Canton and operated a beauty shop.
Survivors include a brother, Lawrence
of Inwood; and three sisters, Florence
and Geneva, both of Canton, and Eunice of Luverne, Minnesota.
